In this art-journaling OCourse students will roll up their sleeves for hands-on, interactive art explorations led by Brené. It’s heartwork through artwork. This OCourse covers the 10 guideposts of Brené’s book The Gifts of Imperfection as well as an introductory and conclusion lesson.

In each lesson, Brené leads you through a new “Guidepost for Wholehearted Living” with weekly intentions, reading assignments from The Gifts of Imperfection, lesson videos, creative exercise videos and new ways to DIG deep in your own life and put the lessons into practice.

In this custom on-demand version you will always have access to stream class videos online and view all course materials from Part 1 and Part 2 on the OCourse site. You will be able to take the class at your own pace and come back and review course materials whenever you want.

  • First, Brené guides us through the Lesson Intention and directs you to key sections of her New York Times bestseller, The Gifts of Imperfection , setting the foundation to get you started. You will also get access to exclusive course downloads that you can save, share and print. The reading assignments take about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
  • Second, in the Creative Assignment videos, Brené and her special guests give a demonstration of the lesson’s art-journal activities. Brené also includes stories and personal insights on what each assignment can reveal to us. Then, it’s time for you to dive into the exercise! The approximate viewing time for these videos for each lesson is about 10 to 15 minutes. The art-journal creative assignments can be done on your own time and take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
  • Third, Brené guides you to Wholeheartedness and puts each lesson into practice by helping you to DIG Deep. You’ll receive thought-provoking questions that will help you Get Deliberate, Get Inspired and Get Going. Record your answers to the DIG Deep questions in your journal or share them with friends and family.
  • Throughout the 12 lessons, you’ll have the opportunity to watch six pre-recorded Q&A sessions with Brené that were conducted during the “live” version of the course. The sessions include many frequently asked questions from students working through the course material.
